Etienne Davignon

Chairman of the CMB Group, Genfina, Recticel, Palais des Beaux-Arts, Fondation P.-H. Spaak, Egmont Institute, ICHEC, former Vice President of the European Commission, former Belgian Minister of State

Davignon worked at the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1959 to late 1976. He then joined the Commission of the European Communities in January 1977 and was appointed Vice President for Industry, Research and Energy from January 1981 to January 1985. In 1985, he joined Société Générale de Belgique where he became Chairman in 1989 and Vice Chairman in 2001. From 2003 to 2010 he was Vice Chairman of Suez Tractebel. He is currently Chairman of the CMB Group, Genfina, Recticel, Palais des Beaux-Arts, Fondation P.-H. Spaak, Egmont Institute and ICHEC.

He is also a board member at Gilead and Anderlecht Royal Sporting Club.
