Vice-Chairman Barclays Capital, Chairman of the Fondation de France
A graduate of the prestigious French Ecole Polytechnique, and the Ecole Nationale d’Administration, Philippe Lagayette started his career in 1970 at the French Inspectorate General of Finances. In 1974, he joined the Treasury Directorate at the French Ministry for the Economy and Finance and was named its Deputy Director in 1980. He became the Principal Private Secretary of the French Economy and Finance Ministry in 1981, then moved to the Banque de France in 1984 to work as Deputy Governor. He was named Director General of the French Deposit and Consignment Office in 1992, where he worked until December 1997. From 1998 to August 2008, he directed JP Morgan in France. He then worked as Vice Chairman of JP Morgan for the EMEA region until January 2010. He also headed the French-American Foundation from 2003 to 2010.
He is currently Vice-Chairman at Barclays Capital, Senior Advisor in France, a consultant at PL Conseils, a board member at Fimalc, PPR and Renault, President of the Institut des Hautes Etudes Scientifiques, Chairman of the Fondation de coopération scientifique pour la recherche sur la maladie d’Alzheimer, and Chairman of the Fondation de France. Philippe Lagayette is a Commander of the French Legion of Honour and Commander of the French National Order of Merit.
